Gadget policy

  1. The gadget can't contain advertisements on the profile view (name and logo of the creator are allowed), advertising on canvas page is allowed. The name and logo of the creator of the gadget may be shown on profile view, but no other brands, e.g. "sponsored by ...".
  2. No autoplay of audio in the profile view or home view.
  3. The gadget can't encourage spam. Examples are incentives or prizes for people who invite friends to use the gadget.
  4. The gadget should increase the quality of the Hyves network rather than decrease it. This also means that a gadget should add value to the profile pages, rather than just create exposure for the creator of the gadget.
  5. When a gadget has been added more than 5000 times we might contact you to agree on conditions (if any) under which the gadget can continue to spread within Hyves. It's no hard limit however, so don't worry when you get close.
  6. Gadgets that conform to the specs might be included in our gadget gallery.
  7. If a gadget is added with the API(method), a question must be asked whether the gadget will be added to the home page or the profile page of the Hyver. If the gadget is placed on the profile of the Hyver the visibility must be asked (visible to: friends, friends_of_friends, public or super_public) or the visibility setting must be communicated to the Hyver before placing the gadget.
  8. Our advice is that the gadget developer should provide a help section for the gadget. This way bugs can be reported or issues can be send directly to the gadget developer. An e-mailaddress or form will do.
  9. Implementing a 'share this'-button (sharethis/addthis etc) is fine. But we ask that you use a service which also hosts Hyves as a sharable medium.
  10. The content in the gadget-views may not be misleading in any way, shape or form.
