Supported views

We support 3 views:

1. Profile view
2. Home view
3. Canvas view

A gadget has the homepage view when it's being shown on the global homepage of Hyves (www.hyves.nl). When a gadget is installed on the profile (<username>.hyves.nl), the profile view will be shown. Both the profile page and the home page link to the canvas view, where a large version of the gadget is shown.

Profile view

The profile page is the personal page of a Hyver, where you can see his/her information which he/she wants to share. On this page there is a special section/column for gadgets. Both embed gadgets and OpenSocial gadgets can be added here. The gadgets can be ordered by the owner. For the profile owner it's also possible to pin a gadget to a fixed position, and determine the number of gadget to show (from 1 to 5).

Because the profile pages are the most requested pages it's good practice to make the profile view as light as possible, while remaining fun to interact with of course. The profile view is probably the place with the largest viral effect to spread your gadget to other profiles.

Home view

The home view can be found on http://www.hyves.nl/showGadgetHome/. This home view is only visible to the logged in user (viewer is always the same as owner). It's possible to develop a gadget that can only be installed on the home view, so this will be a personal gadget page. (8-12-2009: We are making some adjustments to this page and hope to launch this soon).

There are two columns where the user can drag and drop their gadget. The default placement on the home view is at the bottom left. Specs can be found on the requirements page

There is a maximum of 6 gadgets that can be placed on the homepage.

Canvas view

The canvas view is the largest view. The profile view is often a limited version of the application (because of the available width, viewer not always being visible and performance reasons), the canvas view can be full featured. This is also is the only page where we allow your own advertisement to be displayed. The viewer is always visible on the canvas view. Reactions are displayed beneath the gadget (this feature can be disabled per gadget). Specs can be found on the requirements page

Item page

The Item page is the page where you can install a gadget and see more information about the gadget. There is also a box where your friends are listed that also have the gadget installed, a box where you can find other gadgets that are in your Gallery-category and a box for respects and comments. Every OpenSocial gadget has an Item page, for listing in the gallery you need to go here. You are not the owner of this page, you can only adjust the picture, title and description. If you see comments that are not appropriate, please e-mail to gadgetgalleryAThyves.nl so we can take a look at it.
