Commercial use of the API
You can use the API without commercial restrictions, the only thing that is explicitly prohibited is using data that has been made available through the API for the targeting of advertisements (from third party advertisers) on your website or application.
Furthermore, if you (expect to) reach a limit of 50.000 requests per day, please contact (hyves-api[AT]hyves[DOT]nl) us in order to make sure this limit will be raised. Additional conditions might apply in that situation, this is evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Availability of private API methods
Some functionality we do not expose through public API methods, but they are available for partners when it is critical to the service they plan to offer and when it clearly adds value to Hyves in general. The reason these methods are not publicly available is primarily because of the potential mis-use resulting in spam to Hyvers.
Examples are:
- Send emails or notifications to Hyves members (friends of a logged-in user)
- Posting scraps ('krabbels'), tips and pings ('tikken')
- Posting items in the newsfeed
- Sending invites to become Hyve friends or to join a certain Hyve

These pages can be very rich in functionality, with the added benefit that Hyvers are automatically logged-in so API functionality can be used immediately and seamlessly, off course after approval from an account manager.
